This post from Peak Memory says virtually all I would want to say, except that I haven’t actually read the book, but really like the no-nonsense and pragmatic approach that Dan Harris takes in his video.
We all suffer from the voice in the head- and this video/book confirms what I have long known, that meditation can moderate that significantly.

I just finished reading 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works–A True Story, by Dan Harris, a book suggested to me by my brother.

This is a great book, a case for meditation without the hype. There is evidence that meditation has real benefits and Harris does a good job of explaining how he came to the practice and why you should give it a try. The book also includes an interesting look into the office politics of television news

Energy/Spiritual Healing: the Scientific Evidence

The Healing Trust, formerly known as the NFSH, has published an extensive review of scientific analyses of the effects of healing.

Much of their article is a summary of a review of two books by D J Benor, but the reference list includes a large number of other significant studies.

The article is so well written that I feel the best approach is to excerpt several final discussion points acting as the conclusion to the Healing Trust article, and suggest you read the whole article for yourself. Continue reading

Hands on healing research cures cancer in mice

In this recent article in the Institute of Noetic Sciences Journal, Bill Bengston, a professor of sociology at St. Joseph’s College in New York City, discusses some remarkable results from a series of hands-on healing sessions with mice.

Coming from a very sceptical and scientific mindset, he outlines how he came to personally experience hands on healing from a psychic he met. After experiencing his back problems healed almost inadvertantly through his psychic contact, Bengstom went on to learn how to heal for himself, whilst setting up an experiment to see whether healing worked on mice infected with cancer.
